How to Identify Spiritualizing

Spiritualizing is one of the most harmful ways an abuser hurts their partner in terms of the damage it causes.

Spiritualizing takes spiritual ideals like the scriptures and uses them to control, harm, and avoid responsibility.

The abuser uses the Bible, will go to their elders and pastors, and use specific scriptures like hammers on you, when you are just trying to resolve a conflict. They do this in order to convince you that God is with them and against you.

This leaves a lasting mark. You not only have to recover from the abuse of your partner, but also a repair in your relationship with God because of how you have been told God sees you.

This is not an easy process of healing but well worth the freedom.
